Winter Warmers!

Welcome back Spooners! We've got a whole host of treats for you this weekend, from good old fasioned Christmassy fun to the pretty darn strange. But first, there was a trickle of festival news this week (not that we're thinking of summer or anything) in the shape of a Field Day line-up announcement, which we're overjoyed at.

In keeping with the Christmas spirit, we went behind the scenes at a pantomime. Oh yes we did!!! Oh no you di.....

Moving on, the arts desk chatted to the hilarious Miriam Elia about her excellent new show (see Friday's picks). Superstar DJ Norman Jay MBE told us his London secrets and stories, and we spoke to UK hip-hop outfit Foreign Beggars.

Friday 9th

Two things we love at Spoonfed are chocolate and festivals, so we're positively beside ourselves over The Chocolate Festival this weekend. Also, the brilliant Secret Cinema is back with a new film, new location and new cast (but we can't tell you any of it, it's a secret, obvs).

Miriam Elia fell in love with a conceptual artist and now has a really funny exhibition telling us about it. Finally, the comedic talents of Tim Minchin, Dara O Briain and Phill Jupitus take part in an improv show at The Soho Theatre - guaranteed laughter.

Saturday 10th

Star in your own version of CSI at pop-up anatomy at the Wellcome Collection.

Fringe theatre group Duckie celebrate the collapse of capitalism at their Christmas show at the Barbican, and you can get some festive shopping done in the cosy confines of the Water Poet, Spitalfields (and there's a hog roast!)

After dark, bask in electro and nu-disco bliss at XOYO for Ecstasy, Passion and Pain or head to Warm with dubstep label Hessle Audio.

Next week

A one-off show at the Lyric Theatre, The Joy of Sketch, is our comedy pick for next week.

There's top quality live music as veteran indie outfit The Lemonheads perform their standout album 'It's A Shame About Ray' in its entirity on Monday. And there's another early Xmas present at Brixton Academy on Wednesday for XFM's Winter Ball, featuring The Horrors, Kaiser Cheifs, Miles Kane and more.

Finally, The Underground Film Club are showing possibly the greatest Christmas film of them all – Home Alone, at their cavernous location beneath The Roundhouse on Thursday. Keep the change ya filthy animal.
