Ooooh! Aaaah!

It's November, there's a loud banging overhead, you're wrapping jacket potatoes in tin foil and the dog's going mad. This can only mean one thing - fireworks night! But with so many displays around town this weekend we couldn't possibly list them all in this humble newsletter, so instead we've put together a handy guide to the best of bonfire night to keep you oooh-ing and aaaah-ing all weekend.

It's also the time of year when London's goes up into the loft and digs out the Christmas lights, so we've got a round-up of the best switching on ceremonies this year, with everyone from Justin Beiber to Bill Nighy doing the honours.

Elsewhere we looked at London's best indie nights and picked our favourite film events in November. Spoonfed also announced that we've got another art event lined up at the Royal Academy this month, and we loved the news that drawings by poet Sylvia Plath are on show at The Mayor Gallery from this week.

Friday 4th

All female sketch group Lady Garden will make you laugh at the Leicester Square Theatre with a special appearance from Phill Jupitus, and Liliane Lijn's solo show at the Sir John Soane Museum is our pick of the exhibitions opening this weekend.

Practise your spins and twists as legendary Northern Soul night Rock n Roll Soul turns 10, and elsewhere in clubland, Warm have Joy Orbison and Mark E in for their monthly Plastic People residency - hugely recommended.

Saturday 5th

MF Doom and Ghostface Killah, two icons of hip-hop, join forces at The Roundhouse this Saturday, and shoppers can get Lost in Vintage, at the Old Queen's Head.

Fabulous pop-up restaurant The Pale Blue Door returns to East London- this one definitely has to be seen to be believed, and for clubbers, the awesome Boogie Cartel are back at The Horse and Groom.

Next week

Christmas has come early for art lovers next week with more great exhibitions than you can shake a paintbrush at. Firstly, the largest ever collection of Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings go on display at The National Gallery from Wednesday. Fashion and bespoke tailoring combine at this exhibition in Clerkenwell, we also like the look of Shadow Lines, and John Maine at the Royal Academy is definitely one to see.

On stage, we recommend Burlesque, which combines the razzle dazzle of the American musicals with gritty political drama, and Reasons to be Pretty, starring Billie Piper.

Finally our pick of the gigs next week is throbbing post-punk juggernaut Warm Brains, at The Old Blue Last on Monday.
