The Spooky Spoonfed Newsletter!

It's that time of year again! Witches and ghosts stalking the streets, pumpkins in every window - yep, it's Halloween! But we'll spare you any more lame cliches, instead we've rounded up a list of actual, real-life, terrifying things to do in London that'd scare the nuts off a Hyde Park squirrel. Click at your peril. We've also put together a guide to throwing your own super-brilliant Halloween party, and you can also check out some of London's Cemeteries, if you're into that kind of thing...

Pretty soon we'll be saying goodbye to October and puffing the cushions before November arrives (we know – November already!) so don't miss our editor's choices for the month ahead, from theatre and comedy to art and music, plus all the other cool stuff in between.

Elsewhere this week we spoke to New Jersey rockers Real Estate, visited some of London's auction houses, and caught up with LA's finest The Glitch Mob.

Friday 28th

Fortnum and Mason's are getting into the Halloween spirit with a pumpkin carving competition, with some pretty awesome prizes. Art wise, the long awaited William Morris exhibition opens this Friday at Two Temple Place.

Adrenaline junkies should make their way  to Battersea Power Station for the Freeze Festival, where extreme sports and live music combine, and hedonists can head off to The Torture Garden's Halloween Ball - not for the faint hearted!

Saturday 29th

The awesome Vintage Pick n Mix is back in Shoreditch this Saturday, while pop-up cinema people Vanishing Point are showing horror classic Psycho at a secret spooky location.

Not only is Halloween a big night in the underworld, it's also one of the staple dates on the clubbing calendar, so we've put together a handy list of the best parties around town.

Mr Halloween himself, Alice Cooper, is having a fancy dress party at Ally Pally, and decadent cabaret specialists Die Freche Muse are holding a secret Halloween party of their own.

Next week

Indie record label Fortuna Pop celebrate being 15 next week with a trio of gigs at Scala. If you can only make one (and we think you should make at least one) we reckon Wednesday with Crystal Stills is the pick of the bunch. If hip-hop is more your bag, awesome Latin American MC Ana Tijoux makes her UK debut at Favela Chic, also on Wednesday.

Our theatre pick for the week ahead is Don Carlos, a tale of passion, deceit, and betrayal at the Blue Elephant Theatre from Tuesday, and for something a little different, check out the avant-garde Cut & Splice festival, which starts next Thursday.

Swedish stand-up Magnus Betner is at the Comedy Cafe on Wednesday, and finally the Dialogue Festival, a brand new event combining music, comedy, debate and more, starts on Wednesday with a video-comedy show from Adam Buxton.
