Gammon Eileen!

Is there any savoury dish not improved by the addition of a rasher of bacon? It's a debate we at Spoonfed have a lot, and given that this Saturday is International Bacon Day, we thought it a good time to see what you guys think too. Why not email us?

If you don't care for bacon (fools!) then perhaps you'll be more interested to hear that Glastonbury tickets are soon to be on sale. At the bargain price of £195 no less...

Slightly cheaper is the forthcoming Greenwich Comedy Festival which, with Stewart Lee, Reginald D Hunter, Adam Buxton and Tom Green, looks like being a belter.

There's also Leftfield's forthcoming tour to look forward to and the wicked-sounding Tramshed, part of the London Design Festival.

So loads basically, even for you heretical bacon-haters.

We just can't get enough of this kind of pseudo-corporate management jargon: "at withyou.co.uk we provide Experiential OffsettingTM through the creation of Unique Life Enhancement SolutionsTM". Sound like a joke? Well it is kind of. WITH are a kind of art/design collective based here in the UK who provide weird 'services' for their 'clients'.

Friday 3rd

Marcus Coates is totally awesome. He's a contemporary performance artist who basically spends his time doing all manner of weird things. He's videoed people pretending to be birds at breakfast, performed a shamanic ritual dressed in a deer skin, and pottered around the streets of Elephant and Castle dressed only in his pants, with a badger on his

Saturday 4th

A day of West End photographic fun-times courtesy of the splendid folks at Shoot London. To join in, all you have to do is form a team of between two and four, pay your £15 each, register, and turn up at The National Portrait Gallery at 10.30am. As well as exploring the West End, camera in hand, the day also encompasses an innovative

Soundcrash do it AGAIN with this simply incredible line-up. Tonight is a celebration of both CLR Records' ten years in existence and the birth of a new night representing its sound. They do so in the relatively unknown Jacks club, the smaller archways of this club ensuring an intimate raw raving feel.

Two of the label's stalwarts head the line-up and ensure that this will be a night to remember.

Sunday 5th

Exciting news! One of Spoonfed's favourite galleries in London is undertaking its first off-site project, and it sounds like a cracker. This September sees performance, installation and a collection of artists' books on show in the Sir John Soane-designed church, St John on Bethnal Green. Alicia Canes Chved curates a collection of artists' books

Monday 6th

Uncovering the stories behind 15 of the most innovative British inventions from this century's first decade, The British Library explores how to turn that spark of inspiration into a commercial success.

On display are ingenious inventions such as a self-heating milk bottle, a portable water filter that ensures victims of natural disasters quick access to clean water and the controversial Mosquito Security System.

Yep, that nasty age discriminating one that emits an unbearable sound which can only be heard by young people.

Tuesday 7th

History, politics, spies, what more could you want? oh yeah, a big ol' brutal war complete with Afghan warlords.

In 1981, the the Soviet army wreaks havoc in Afghanistan as it makes its way toward the critical Pakistani border. CIA operative Jim Warnock is sent to try and halt its ruthless progress.

In Jim's secret war an Afghan leader joins forces with the Pakistani and British intelligence forces while Russian soldiers are shot with Chinese bullets. Though tied together by a common enemy, mutual suspicion and shifting loyalties pervade.

Decadent Vienna rushes towards the destruction of the Great War as the trial of extraordinary and perverse young painter Egon Scheile gets underway.

Artistic genius comes into question as Schiele is accused of seducing his 13 year old model. Gustav Klimt, his mentor, guides us through the same streets as Adolf Hitler, while Schiele paints a new and shocking truth.

Wednesday 8th

Hailing from various points around the commuter belt, The Shitty Limits are descending on Ryan's Bar in peaceful Stoke Newington for a night of raucous, garage-influenced punk rock.

Main support comes from Crowd Control, a gang of Irish kids who sound like Gehenna meeting Citizens Arrest.

Thursday 9th

Where does art start, and science finish? Base Metal - the latest exhibition at Simon Oldfield Contemporary Art - seeks to explore exactly that question, and several others besides.

The idea is to look at the apparatus and aesthetics of science's many incarnations - there's work by Sam Knowles who takes gold leaf to old scientific books; Nick Bailey is showing his weird contraptions; and there's also drawings and assorted work by Spoonfed favourite Ryan Leigh, who we were seriously impressed by at New Sensations last year.

Friday 10th

Oh, yeah, this sounds completely brilliant. Jane Webb curates an exploration of London's secret underground tunnels, its weird bits of little known history, its dark corners, and secret crannies.

Taking place in the run-down creepiness of the basement under Shoreditch Town Hall, over 50 artists have recreated a world of bunkers, crypts, disused stations and sundry other cobwebbed crevices.

Roam around by torchlight as stilt walkers, magicians, and mysterious dancers emerge from the gloom.

Best of all? It's totally free. Amazing.

Genius magician and controversial stand-up Jerry Sadowitz brings his not-for-the-faint-hearted brand of comedy to the Greenwich Comedy Festival tonight.

Born in the US and brought up in Glasgow, Sadowitz is revered on the comedy circuit and regarded as one of the best magicians in the business, having written several books on magic and invented many of his own cunning tricks. His style is definitely best suited for punters who like their comedy vitriolic and fierce.

For 16 years Rinse FM has been instrumental in the development of undergound music in London. Championing and nurturing Grime, dubstep and now UK Funky the radio station has shaped the face of the UK dance scene.

Having recently obtained a FM licence after three years of fighting this party is going not going to just be a birthday but a celebration of this achievement.

The line up speaks for its self here with a selection of the finest of the Djs who have graced Rinse FM's decks over the last 16 years taking to Fabrics fabled booths.

This is going to be huge.

Saturday 11th

It's summertime! Kind of. Which means the British public are looking a little less than glamorous. Wardrobe panic sweeps the nation as a few precious hot days cause the unenthusiastic to reach for those ever so lovely garish shorts, not forgetting the tiny vest that looked oh so good five years ago.

But hold on, there are some of us that revel in the summer, having collected enough nautical themed wear to be able to go out in full sailing regalia, though carefully distributing the white, navy and red so you don't go out looking like you've lost your boat. Well, this is your chance not to hold back, this is your chance to come out into the open, this is the time to show all your summer obsession!

The legend that is ?uestlove brings his magic to East Village tonight.

There are few musicians, producers or DJs that can claim to have worked with such a phenomenal array of talent as this Philadelphia native while still leaving his own distinctive mark on each one. The list reads like a who's who of modern hip hop and soul; Jay-Z, Al Green, Erykah Badu, J-Dilla, Common, Joss Stone and De La Soul to name just a handful.

All this before we even mention the fact that he is the founding member & driving force of the world most respected hip hop band The Roots who themselves are now eleven albums deep.

Sunday 12th

Comedian, writer and music video director Adam Buxton hosts this special Greenwich Comedy Festival edition of his music video show BUG, which aims to showcase the most creative and innovative music videos currently around.

From clips made by a 17-year old with a stills camera to Michel Gondry, from YouTube viral hits to the latest stuff from the top directors and artists, Buxton will showcase his favourite music video talent peppered with his own insightful and hilarious contributions.
