Texture like sun

Turning golden. Drying. Curling. Falling in spirals downwards to crackle under wellies, a patchwork russet rug upon green lawns. Autumn arrives in beauty and colour: cold, and crisp, and full of muted sun. The odd grey shower, heads hunched, rain dribbles down the neck, a dog snuffles at the bases of tree trunk. And raises a leg. To hotly urinate.

Autumn in London. The wonder of it arrives now. Kicking through the leaves in London Fields. Rummaging for conkers in Hyde Park. Frying leeks in butter, supping elderflower wine from acorn cups: there’s magic in the tiniest moments of nothingness.

And magic sprinkled everywhere: a priest, a witch, a poet, a moose, a llama, a herring, a séance.
